A funny thing happened on the way …

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

The last two times Sally and I tried to go downtown for a special dinner, we’ve been sidetracked by weather.  For Christmas, we tried to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory but the roads around Westfield were icy.  Black Icy.  Tonight, since she’ll be gone for the 14th, we were going to the Weber Grill for a nice dinner.  On the way home, the roads seemed clear, if a bit snowy.  Then, as we were watching the news, the skies opened and dumped on the roads like so many packing peanuts.  Only wetter.

Point of interest, it’s possible to spin out using a roundabout at 15 mph.  I should know.  I was there.  I wouldn’t say I was “driving” at the time, but I was in the driver’s seat.

Needless to say, we’ve elected to stay in tonight, but only after finding out the above factoid on our way to the restaurant.

Giving things up for Lent…

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Since today is Ash Wednesday, I have an idea of what some people could give up for Lent: Christmas Lights.  I really think it’s time to take them down!!!!!!
