…and so it begins…

…and so it begins…

Sally began her annual battle against the rabbits. It seems the hoppity stew on feet have been eating the Coral Bells she so lovingly planted in the side yard. She even caught one so brazen as to be eating Coral Bells AT her. So when it came time to plant the annuals, she brought out the big guns.
In the first ranks, she deployed a row of Marigolds, our front line defense. These are backed up by a rank of Bright Eyes, a division of some purple and white flower, and another rank of Bright Eyes. The Marigolds and Bright Eyes are veterans from the Aught – Seven campaign who served with distinction. The distinction of not having been eaten. These flowers are not left to fend on their own. They have been armed with concentrated Coyote Urine and given Mothballs for body armor. After a rousing speech, these brave soldiers have taken up arms to defend the flower bed from the furry, flop-eared menace.

I never used to be into gardening, but now that we have our own garden it is suddenly fun! It is like a big science experiment! And it looks pretty too. I have been very excited about our spring bulbs coming up:
The most interesting part about all this was that I noticed the other day that one of our hyacinths appeared to be on the ground. I was furious at first because I thought that our evil neighborhood bunnies had struck again. Upon taking a closer look though, I noticed that it had actually somehow sprouted and bloomed underground and had just now pushed it’s way to the surface.
Pretty cool!
